About Us
Why Choose Glendale Lutheran School?
The culture experienced at Glendale offers an environment of genuine love and care for students and their families. Glendale is made up of a diverse student body composed of members of the surrounding community. Our students are exposed to a challenging curriculum each day and are given a plethora of opportunities to grow in both faith and service.
Glendale Lutheran School (GLS) is located in the heart of Burien. We are a private, Christian school that offers learning opportunities for children preschool through eighth grade, and is maintained and supported by Glendale Evangelical Lutheran Church. Enrollment is open to students of all faiths, nationalities and ethnic origins.
We have a long history in Christian education dating back to 1944. Our location provides a safe and nurturing learning environment on an attractive campus. Our caring and loving faculty and staff provide quality instruction in an environment that recognizes each student as a special and unique child of God.
Research indicates strong correlation between a parent’s involvement in a child’s school and the education success of the child. Parent involvement overflows at Glendale. Participation ranges from being a room parent by helping teachers plan class events to assisting with the supervision of the playground. Glendale's parent-teacher organization, (PTO) provides countless opportunities for parents to get involved and share abilities and interests for the benefit of our students.
Our students are valued and nurtured as they develop their unique talents through hands-on activities, special projects (such as the science fair) and involvement in the arts, music, and physical education. Interpersonal and leadership skills blossom as students serve as peer leaders and assume roles of responsibility in the school and community.
From preschool through middle school; our teachers provide excellent instruction, build strong relationships with their students and share a passion for the teaching profession that is unparalleled.
Our Class Sizes
Small class size and low student to teacher ratio allows teachers to individualize instruction and build on each child’s strengths. GLS serves Preschool through Middle School. Maximum enrollment per class is currently at 16 students for Elementary and Middle School and Pre-Kindergarten is currently at 12 students. Preschool classes have an 8:1 ratio.
